Kimsey Terrell will be the only player from Arizona competing in this year’s National Drive, Chip and Putt (DCP) Championship at Augusta National on April 5, 2026. On the biggest stage in junior golf, she will compete in the Girls 12–13 division.
Today’s Junior Golfer was proud to support Kimsey during her Regional Championship win and is honored to continue supporting her by helping sponsor a portion of her expenses on this incredible journey to the DCP Championship at the home of The Masters.

🔥 DCP QUICK HITS
• First reaction when you qualified for Augusta?
I was in shock and extremely thankful. Then I felt an overwhelming sense of relief because I’ve been trying to make it for the last four years. I knew I made my family and “Today's Junior Golfer” organization, who helped me get to the final round in Texas, proud.
• What are you most excited to see at Augusta National?
The whole place! But more specifically, I’m excited to see the grounds, where the event will be held, and Hole 16, the par-three, to watch creative short-game shots.
• Which skill are you most confident in—drive, chip, or putt?
The skill I’m most confident in right now is putting, but chipping is a close second.
• What would winning at Augusta mean to you?
Just making it this far to Augusta already feels like a win. My goal is to finish in the top three, but winning would be the icing on the cake.

• Favorite course in Arizona?
I’ve played Troon North a handful of times and really like the layout of the course. I would love to play a round at Silverleaf Golf Club with a famous Arizona local like Michael Phelps or Jon Rahm, as that would be a very memorable moment.
• Favorite club in your bag?
Right now, I like all my clubs pretty equally and don’t have a favorite.
• Driver, chip, or putt—which wins you DCP?
Chipping and putting score the most points in DCP, so those two are my biggest focus.

• Go-to snack during a round?
My favorite snacks during a round are frozen watermelon or mango pieces.
• Walk-up song to the first tee?
"Supermassive Black Hole" by Muse.
• Favorite golfer (pro or junior)?
My favorite golfer at the moment is Charley Hull.
• Dream course to play (besides Augusta)?
Someday I’d love to play at St. Andrews and the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club near Seoul. I can’t wait to play in a tournament in another country.
• Best score you’ve ever shot?
My lowest-scoring round was at the Biltmore, where I shot a 29 (9 holes) in a US Kids tournament.
• Most nervous moment in golf?
I don’t have one particular most nervous moment in golf, but pressure putts can be intense.
• One word to describe your game?
Tenacious.
⚡ FUN / PERSONAL
• Early tee time or late afternoon round?
I prefer an early tee time so I still have part of my day to do another activity or simply enjoy some downtime.
• Music or no music on the course?
I love music and wish I could play golf with my earbuds in during tournaments. Since we’re not allowed to talk to spectators and most players are in their own zone, music helps me get in my zone and tune everything around me out.
• Range session or playing a round?
Without question—playing a round on the course!
• Favorite thing to do outside of golf?
My favorite thing to do outside of golf is going to the gym or hanging out with non-golf friends. I like to keep golf and my personal life separate.
• If you weren’t playing golf, what would you be doing?
I’ve never been asked that question and haven’t given it much thought. I would likely be more involved in the arts and spend time with friends.

Kimsey's update from DCP:
As I get older, I’m learning that life is more about the experiences you have—both on your own and with the people you love—than about achievements or trophies. Having this mindset has helped me better manage my emotions and feel more at peace, even when things don’t always go my way.
This trip was an all-girls experience with three incredible women I look up to: my mom, my grandma Kelner, and Coach Danielle. Spending quality time with them—playing golf, exploring new places, and meeting new people—made this trip truly special. The Drive, Chip and Putt organization does an amazing job taking care of both players and their families, and I would encourage any young golfer to give DCP a try for the chance to be part of such an unforgettable experience.
Sometimes, things happen that are out of our control. On Saturday evening after the banquet, I started feeling sick and had to push through the next few days. Thankfully, with the help of DayQuil and Tylenol, I didn’t miss a moment—especially not the Masters practice round on Monday.
There are so many memories from this trip that I will cherish forever. From the moment we arrived, I was amazed by how unique the Augusta airport is, with everything inside reflecting the Masters Tournament. The large group photo of all the 2026 DCP participants and the beautiful banquet on Saturday were unforgettable. One of my favorite moments was walking from the chipping area to the 18th green for putting while the crowd cheered us on the entire way—it made me feel incredibly special.
I also had the chance to shake hands with Scottie Scheffler, get a hug from Bryson DeChambeau, and putt next to Patrick Reed on the practice green, which was amazing. Another fun moment was getting my gnome in the gift shop, where everyone in the store cheered for each DCP participant. The final dinner on Monday night with my family, coach, and new friends was especially meaningful, surrounded by people who truly love and support me.
In summary, I am incredibly grateful for all the support and encouragement I’ve received from the people in my life. I will continue to work hard in golf, in school, and in growing as a person so that one day I can give back and support the next generation. Thank you again to my family, Drive, Chip and Putt, JGAA, and TodaysJuniorGolfer.com for making these amazing experiences possible and for being such an important part of my journey.
Kind Regards,
-Kimsey and Kimberly (mom) Terrell
Once again, we are very proud of you Kimsey and cant wait to see what's next!
